Congratulations to all those who helped is achieve the following:

  • Year 10 and 11 Kinder Sports Futsal Tournament Winners.(Resulted in the school representing Cardiff City in the National version of the trophy.)
  • Year 8 Regional Network rail winners Tournament.
  • Year 8 South Wales Regional Network rail runners up.
  • Year 12 TVS Football performance centre Cup Winners.
  • Year 7 Tonyrefail Cup Winners.
  • Year 7 Welsh Cup quarter Finalists.

Emily James – Aerobic Gymnastics

June 23, 2016

Emily is the Current British Champion in the Group 1 (Age 12-14) category; she is also the current British Champion as part of a Trio in the same age category

She is the only GB Squad Gymnast to score 18.7 at age 11 in the Group 1 category

In 2015 Emily competed for GB:

  • In Slovakia where she won a Silver medal
  • Czech Republic a Silver medal
  • She also competed in Lithuania obtaining a Bronze medal for her individual and Bronzr for her Trio
  • Emily obtained her ‘Feathers’ for Wales (Welsh Cap for Gymnastics) in 2015

Engineering Education Scheme Wales Students

June 17, 2016

The following students were involved the engineering education scheme Wales (EESW):

  • Harriet Miller
  • Dan Loring
  • James Ashford
  • Cameron Carey

Their project looked at a replacement system for the school bus pass system. The team designed and built a fingerprint reading system. The device was recognised as having great potential, to a point where RCT have offered to sponsor the team to continue with their idea next academic year . In the awards day for the scheme the team scored a average of 93% across all of the disciplines and were in the top half dozen schools in the country and nominated for several awards. A real credit to the school.

The Seren Hub gives able students from all secondary schools in our county the chance to visit and gain preparatory advice for applying to the top UK universities. The pupils meet on a regular basis with tutors from within and outside the county. Many of the advisors are alumni of Oxford or Cambridge.
